The deadline is global, but the resourcing pressure has a distinctly local shape for Canadian companies competing with the US and Europe for the same scarce migration talent.

SAP's December 2027 deadline doesn't distinguish by geography — an ECC system running in Regina loses mainstream maintenance on exactly the same date as one running in Frankfurt or Chicago. What does differ by geography is how easily a Canadian organization can actually staff a migration once it decides to move, and the picture there deserves its own look.

A blog aimed specifically at USA and Canada enterprises put the regional resourcing challenge plainly: while there is a growing pool of SAP consultants generally, the number of vendors with deep, hands-on S/4HANA migration expertise in North America remains limited, and enterprises often struggle to find partners who combine local presence with proven global delivery capability. That is a genuinely different problem from the raw talent-shortage numbers cited elsewhere — it isn't just that experienced consultants are scarce, it's that experienced consultants with a genuine Canadian or North American presence, who understand this country's tax, payroll and regulatory particulars, are scarcer still.
